Trump at Davos 2026: America’s Push to Become the Crypto Capital of the World

TRUMP-AMERICA-WILL-BE-CRYPTO-CAPITAL-OF-THE-WORLD

President Donald Trump reinforced his bold ambition to make the United States the “crypto capital of the world” in his address to the World Economic Forum in Davos on January 21, 2026. His words marked a clear shift toward recognizing digital assets as a critical component of America’s economic and strategic destiny.

Trump stressed that his administration sees bitcoin and blockchain technology as important drivers of innovation, job growth, and financial competitiveness. He portrayed digital assets not as a financial trend, but as a national objective critical to retaining US leadership in an increasingly competitive global economy, particularly against rivals such as China.

A big feature of the speech was Trump’s mention of the Crypto Market Structure Bill, which he stated Congress is “working very hard” to finalize. The proposed legislation seeks to establish complete standards for Bitcoin and other digital assets, ensuring regulatory certainty for investors, developers, and institutions. Trump expressed optimism that the law would be approved “very soon,” calling it as a step toward increasing Americans’ financial independence.

The president also referenced the GENIUS Act (Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for US Stablecoins Act), which he signed into law on July 18, 2025. He referred to the act as a “game-changer,” adding that it established the first federal regulatory framework for stablecoins.

Throughout his speech, Trump emphasized bitcoin adoption as a strategic need. He cautioned that failing to lead in digital assets would allow China to dominate the industry, potentially changing global financial power.

His Davos 2026 address conveyed one clear message: under Trump’s leadership, cryptocurrency is no longer on the margins of US policy—it is central to America’s economic and geopolitical strategy.
